“I definitely have become more confident in what I can bring to the table, which is magic.”

It has been almost one year since Bianca Nolden packed her bags and moved to the Big Apple.

“My experience here has been an interesting one. My journey hasn’t been smooth sailing, but I can see it’s all coming together for amazing results in my character and life goals,” Bianca says.

Bianca has always been a sweet girl, very driven and passionate about getting to where she wants in life. She was born and raised in Cleveland, Mississippi, where she found her love for art and fashion.

“I had always enjoyed dressing up and putting on different outfits and makeup. I used to just go to my neighbor’s house, she was an older lady, and put on her wigs, makeup, and old rings with pearls,” says Bianca. “I used to take my mom’s makeup and do the same thing,” she added laughing. “But I usually got in trouble afterwards.”

She graduated Delta State University with a degree in Fine Arts while also pursuing her dream of becoming a model. She says her experience as an art student at Delta State was a ‘pretty adventurous’ one, and it taught her to be fearless.

“I enjoy creating a lot of exciting artwork using different mediums and subject matters. I enjoyed exploring different techniques in my classes as well,” says Bianca.

Bianca is now signed to one of the top modeling agencies in New York City, MSA Models as a representative of the curve model division.

She joked that she wished she had waited to go into the agencies because they really like perfection.

Bianca says, “I only went to two model castings for agency representations, MSA and Wilhelmina, but I go on castings every week, either my agency sends me out or I find them on my own.”

While also furthering her modeling career in New York, she also works a part-time job as a painter at a studio that makes hand made jewelry. She has been working on revamping her brand with New York City based photographers, artists, and designers.

“I’m just continuing to grind and believing that God will push me to the next level,” Bianca says.

Since living in New York, Bianca has had a chance to work with many brands, and she says networking with a lot of amazing people has been the best part of living in the city.

“I had the opportunity to work for Amazon doing fitness clothing and lingerie. I got a chance to meet Christian Siriano at a Lane Bryant event launch and it was amazing. Siriano’s work is phenomenal, and I participated in a hair show for Baby Liss Pro at the International Beauty Show NY,” said Bianca.

Bianca is also working with the International Beauty Show again to do some work that will be released in 2017.

With New York Fashion Week quickly approaching again, Bianca says she will be ready to get the full experience this time around.

Bianca admitted that her journey in New York has not been smooth sailing, but she hopeful for better days ahead. Shortly after Bianca’s move to NYC, she was struck by an SUV vehicle, and it slowed her modeling career causing her to become extremely homesick.

“Don’t give up on what your want in life despite what you have through or are currently dealing with.”

She is still recovering from the accident and has been attending some therapy sessions, but she is getting through it with the help of her family and friends.

Bianca said, “I wasn’t in the best condition after my car accident here in New York, but I was eager to get my life back up and running even though I was still in pain, but I am happy I didn’t give up.”

Bianca has been a big inspiration to many in her hometown Cleveland and other surroundings as well. Her only life advice is to never give up on what you want in life despite what you have gone through or are currently dealing with.

“There never will be a perfect time to do anything so just go for what you want, work hard, and believe in yourself and your creator. Stay jumble and hungry for progress and life experience,” says Bianca.

On growing up in Cleveland…

BN: I felt like we missed out on a lot of what was being given to those many states around us. My family up North use to come visit us in Mississippi, and I felt so behind on everything when it came to trends and technology, but my family up north lacked the natural things and getting down and dirty because we could get away with running around with no shoes on. Bianca laughs.

Her first modeling experience…

BN: My first real modeling experience was when I had my first photo shoot in Jackson, Mississippi with Elliot James Photography. It was amazing. For years, so many people had encouraged me to get out of Mississippi and pursue my dream of modeling because they saw potential and didn’t want me to waste it. So after getting to the 12th grade in high school, I went and had my first shoot. Both my parents came despite their differences. I was happy, and I was nervous, but being in front of the camera gave me confidence and everything just came natural to me. It was slightly uncomfortable having my parent watching me, but it turned out a great shoot.

Bianca remembers her first photo shoot…

BN: My first photo shoot was just beauty shots. I had on jeans in the first look, and my second look was a black dress. I feel I have changed a lot since my first shoot. I have definitely become more confident in what I can bring to the table which is magic.

Bianca’s art…

BN: My love for art came from God. My family is very talented when it comes to skills with creating things. So I fell in love with illustration and painting when I had gotten the chance to explore the different mediums I could use to create whatever I wanted. I would say my favorite work thus far is my senior thesis exhibition. It’s titled Genesis 1:1, which can be seen in downtown Cleveland, Mississippi at Shift.

Bianca’s favorite artists and models…

BN: Picasso is my favorite, and Smit Lionel, and Jackson Pollock. My favorite models are Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, and Grace Jones. Any other artist or models who become apart of my favorites or my inspiration are considered because they are simply unique, different, and fearless. I can see apart of myself in them. They may have in some way influenced who I am as an artist.

Bianca’s free time…

BN: I enjoy just relaxing and listening to music. It helps me think and prepare for whatever work I have coming up or just to get refocused.
