Caroline Owusu-Ansah : LUV SCRUB

Caroline Owusu-Ansah is a first generation Ghanaian from Boston, Massachusetts who now resides in Brooklyn, New York. She is a graduate of University of Massachusetts Amherst where she obtained a degree in Apparel Marketing.

Caroline is the owner of the LUV SCRUB Mesh Body Exfoliator.  This product has been used in her family for generations.

“My parents are from Kumasi from the Ashanti Tribe. This mesh has always been used in West Africa. The natives identified it as an amazing skin exfoliate, and it has been carried through for generations,” says Caroline.

The 40-year-old said her mother started using the scrub on her when she was only five years old, and she has not stopped using it since.

She first launched her product in 2012 as a hobby when she tested the market and sold thousands of units.

Caroline says she has no formal beauty training, but she learned everything from her mother.

“In Ghana, beauty was always kept simple. I grew up doing my own hair, nails, etcetera, and to be self-sufficient. When I was in junior high, I use to love going to the library and reading books on DIY beauty,” says Caroline.

“I keep it very simple. I’m obsessed with natural soaps, body butter, and of course I use the LUV SCRUB everyday,” she says.

Caroline added,”I am both proud and excited to share this with everyone. It has been a secret for way to long.”

Caroline’s LUV SCRUB Mesh Body Exfoliator can be found on her website www.theluvscrub.com.

On the product:

The process for the LUV SCRUB was branding it and giving it an identity, which has never been done before. I love it. That’s how it got its name.

LUV SCRUB has so many amazing benefits:

  • Unique texture, great for removing dead skin cells
  • Large size can easily scrub your back
  • Long lasting
  • Amazing lather capabilities
  • Moisturizers and oils soak immediately into your skin
  • It can be paired with sugar, salt, and coffee scrubs for extra exfoliation

LUV SCRUB Brand…

I do see the LUV SCRUB brand growing for now. The focus is on the SCRUB. It’s a big job. I would love for the LUV SCRUB to be the new normal.

 Caroline’s Beauty Routine…

My beauty routine is the same pretty much year round. I mainly start inside out. I drink lots of water. My diet is mainly fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and I barely eat out. You are what you eat, and trust me, it will affect your skin. In the winter months, I use facial oils because they are heavier and my skin is dry.

More on the LUV SCRUB…

It is 100% Nylon. I do not recommend on skin that is sensitive, irritated, or broken. The product lasts up to 18 months other bath tools are to be changed monthly.

“We at LUV SCRUB believe in always being your BEST self. Our message is SCRUB YOURSELF SEXY. What is sexy to us? Confidence, ambition and loving yourself. Oh yes, also smooth polished skin.”
