“Fashion means to express yourself. It’s like an identity of you or who you’re becoming. It’s always evolving.”
24-year-old Moorhead, Mississippi native, Cemetric Derell began his career as an independent designer in 2012. Since then he has created a well-crafted, high quality brand that specializes in luxury handbags and accessories.
Derell says his love for fashion and design is a gift God blessed him with and a gift that was passed down from his great grandmother.
“I come from a family full of creative and talented individuals,” Derell says.
Derell’s luxury handbags and clutches has been seen on numerous celebrities, featured on many fashion blogs, and has even gained many supporters from other countries.
He draws inspiration from prayer, music, and modern art.
Derell says, “When I see celebrities wearing my pieces, it makes me feel like I can accomplish anything. The feeling is indescribable.”
Derell’s handbag collection, “BEAUTY meets LUXURY,” are black and white pieces that are handmade specifically by him. His handbags and clutches are made from high quality vinyl leather.
“It takes three to four hours to create one bag,” Derell said. “Other than handbags, I can create shirts and trousers, and hopefully in the future I’ll be creating jackets.”
Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, and Yves Saint Laurent influence Derell’s work.
Derell’s handbags and clutches can be purchased through Instagram and other social media platforms.
“Always create opportunities for yourself. Never wait on anyone to make things happen for you.”
